Long Walks and Wild Blackberries

When I saw that Jian had done blackberry bushes I got touched with nostalgia, since not only do I love blackberries to eat, I also have fond memories attached to them.  Growing up we would go visit my grandparents and it wasn’t uncommon for my brother and I to go take walks with my dad, grandpa and uncle (before he passed away).  On some of those trips we’d take buckets with us and find the wild blackberry bushes, fill the buckets up and return to my grandparents home where my grandma would wash them and then we’d get to eat them with whole milk and sugar.  This is one of my fondest memories from my childhood, those moments when everything was just perfect.  My uncle passed when I was just seven, even though I didn’t see him often and we didn’t spend a lot of time together, he was such a unique person who left a lasting impression on my life.  It makes the memories of picking blackberries all the sweeter for me, I just wish we could have had more walks together before he had to go.
